Inktober: Home

This guide tells you all about Inktober and how to participate in the art challenge!

What Is Inktober?

Started in 2009 by Jake Parker, Inktober is a drawing challenge for artists to improve their skills and develop positive drawing and practicing habits. Anyone can do Inktober! Just pick up a pen and start drawing! Check out the FAQs here!

Rules

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).

2) Post it on any social media

3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2019

4) Repeat

You can use the prompt list or not. It's up to you!

You can ink daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. Inktober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you’re consistent the better.

How to Do Inktober

Tips & Tricks

  • Plan out your drawings beforehand. This will save you time each day and help with creative block.
  • Create a theme that is consistent throughout your drawings (video games, steampunk, abstract style, etc.)
  • Only use the prompt list if you want to.
  • Don't take on more than you can reasonably do! Set realistic goals. Maybe you can't do all 31 days, but you can do a drawing a week instead.
